With very simple dance composition, a logo given each time is to express my

passion against my performance and to show the secret of my dance, which is called

Kabuku-mai.

This is an only regularly-scheduled Kabuku-mai's performance and an only

chance that you can experience a pure Kabuku-mai.

Trumpeter, Composer, Dancer, Cinematographer, Author

Born in Manchester, England, grew up in Canada, lived in Australia, Papua New Guinea, and now resides in Kyoto, Japan.

I have 40 years of experience working in the television and film industry, from the early days of live black and white television (1959 as a studio cameraman), through to my work as a freelance film cameraman working on great projects for National Geographic, BBC Live on Earth with David Attenborough, Carl Sagan “Cosmos”, and many many more.

I voluntarily retired from the film business and entered the world of music, studying composition and performance, and becoming a composer and trumpet player. My music covers many genres (jazz band, gypsy music, free improvisation, modern dance music, and more).

The year of 2010 brought a few interesting projects, notably a music collaboration for the 1300th anniversary celebration of the founding of the city of Nara, Japan.

I play trumpet on the Sony video game, Siren, a horror video game. My trumpet was perfect for it.

JUN

Kabuku mai is a contemporary dance based on Jun's original philosophy

which can be expressed by four Japanese characters, BU (martial art), MAI (dance),

HOU (dedication to god) and ZEN (the way of meditation in Buddhism).

Technically speaking, he focused on Japanese traditional physical movement as

Soujiku (= biaxiality. Dance using 2 centers in body.) and other systems.

He seeked for Japanese original movement and found the same style

in island people of Pacific Rim countries.

He kept researching for the physical characteristics in maritime

people and organized the consiousness and skills all together.
